    There seems to be some issue with how product categories are assigned to products in a recent update.

    When I use the block editor to pull in a WooCommerce Product Category block, newly created categories do not appear in the list. Also when I edit products, to change the category the category product counts are not updated in the category page.

    I initially thought it was a plugin conflict, but have tried disabling all plugins to leave only WooCommerce active and it is still the same result when repeating the steps.

    I am using subscriptions as well as regular products and also ‘display only’ products (external/affiliate products).

    The problem only appears to occur on the External/affiliate type of products. Simple products are ok, as are subscriptions. I believe there is a bug somewhere that is causing this.

    Bug 1: Newly created categories (if created when adding a new External/affiliate product) do not appear in the WooCommerce Category Block Editor

    Bug 2: If I edit a product (external/affiliate) to change the category it is not updated.
