categories not changing

  • Hello everyone,
    I’ve installed the TwentyTwelve WP theme and have been attempting to get it to represent what I want it to, i.e. a simple “blog” where discussions can be had pertaining to what is in my primary domain. The part of my primary domain connected to this blog is located at https://motdaugrnds.com/inspirational and this blog is located at https://inspirations.motdaugrnds.com

    This WP TwentyTwelve has two verticle columns with the left one being my introduction text and, hopefully the right side being for the blog (with categories).

    I’ve created the left side, i.e. the “static front page” yet I cannot get a hyperlink into the text leading to my primary domain and I cannot get the posting area off the bottom.

    My attempts to get the right side of that site to reflect what I want have failed. I wanted one category (“Discussions”) and two menues (“inspirational” and “what keeps us grounded”) to show up.

    Also, I want to link that page back to my primary domain of https://motdaugrnds.com/inspirational and I cannot get that url to show up anywhere.

    Can anyone direct me as to where I can find the information needed to get this done? (I’ve been reading the WP tutorials and trying out the suggestions made; but getting the things mentioned above is just not coming together for me. Will appreciate any help received. Thank you.
