Categories not showing up in category listings?

Hello

I had a several sub-categories on one of my blogs. I recently merged different blogs into a wp 3.0 multisite network, using the export/import tools.

Now, the sub-categories to the only parent category that I had has disappeared from the list under Posts/Categories BUT I can still assign posts to these categories anyhow.

This is a problem as I had written a custom loop utilizing get_categories(‘child_of=’…) which doesn’t return these categories anymore.

I can recreate these subcategories and reassign the posts… because that works. But then I need how to delete these categories that don’t show up?
