Few days ago I upgraded from WP 2.51 to WP 2.8. A day after the upgrade I was changing around the Widgets and I removed the Categories Widget from the sidebar. When the screen refreshed the Widget dissapeared and now it’s gone.

It’s not listed under Available Widgets or Inactive Widgets.

    Things I’ve tried:

Deleted and re-uploaded the WP-Includes and WP-Admin folders
    Switched back to Default Theme
    Deactivated all plugins
Tried both IE and Firefox (and cleared the cache from both)

    help….

  • I use wp 2.8.5. I see in my PC local wordpress database for widget_categories, option_value is ‘a:3:{i:2;a:0:{}i:4;a:4:{s:5:”title”;s:0:””;s:5:”count”;i:0;s:12:”hierarchical”;i:0;s:8:”dropdown”;i:0;}s:12:”_multiwidget”;i:1;}’ so i copy then paste into my host database server.
Its work…hah…. i dont believe. Thanks [email protected]. I love u full.

To [email protected]: Thank you! Worked for me.

I’m using WordPress 2.9.2 and suddenly the categories, tags and links were missing, attempted to do many things without results until I saw your message. I created a new database and made a dump from the “failed” database, and all is working ok again.

    Thank you very much!

So, this is bizarre. I was missing half of my admin options and after some troubleshooting the behaviour persisted. By chance I switched browsers and discovered (to my delight) that in Safari my admin panel is fine. It’s Firefox that’s not showing all of the options.
