CATEGORIES>>SUBCATEGORIES

  • I would like to have several Categories on my site with Sub Cateogories appearing below each Category. Is there a simple hack for doing this?

  • No need for hack. It works like that out of the box. In most themes, I mean.

    I am using Kubrick as a base theme, but will be restyling/structuring with css.

    This should do the trick (it does for me):

    list_cats(FALSE, ”, ‘name’, ‘asc’, ”, TRUE, FALSE, TRUE, FALSE, TRUE, TRUE, FALSE, ”, FALSE, ”, ”, ”, TRUE);

    Also, maybe I should clarify my usage:

    Categories:
    Residential
    Residential Subcategory

    On the final version, there will be no text “Categories”, only Residential and all the projects listed below as Subcatgories (IE Project Name) and pages for that project as Posts. Make sense?

    if it is properly styled the categories and subcats display nicely, e.g.

    Whether you use the heading “Categories” or not – doesn’t really matter ??

    Edit. However, it won’t display the posts’ title in this setting!

    Pasted that into my sidebar, works like a charm, thanks!!! How about going another level and listing posts below the sub category?

    That will not work with this template tag – and I don’t even remember an easy way to do that.

    Actually, realized that won’t be necessary, as the user will simply click into the project (IE SUB CAT) and view the project as multiple posts with the SUB CAT. Thanks again!
