Categorized options.

  • Hello,
    I use this plugin for displaying news. I have several categories which are named after the years. For example: 2021/2020/2019 and etc. When you are the 2020 news on the right side(widget), displays all the 2020 news, but when you click on exact post, on the right side is shown the latest year or in my case 2021. I would like to display the news from the year you are reading the post. If you read the 2019 post to display all posts categorized with 2019.

    So you say your posts are categorized based on years? In that case you can just use the categorypage=yes parameter. See the documentation.

    Not working.
    The thing is I use it from the widget menu not with short codes. I tried with short codes and still not working properly but i thing u didnt understood me.(which is totally normal). I will try to explain one more time.

    You open the news and it shows all the news from the past years. In the menu “News” there are the submenu buttons “2020”,”2019″ and so on, which are links to the categories.
    The widget stays at the right side of the page(Blog side bar).
    When you are at 2021(default year i guess(but its set as “current year”), shows properly. When you go through submenu and open year 2019 still works fine but when click an exact post from 2019 widgets starts to show posts from 2021 not from current year/category.

    Please share the configuration of the widget or the shortcode you are using to display the LCP content in your sidebar.

    Do these news posts have any other categories assigned, other than years?

    They are set like :
    Category: News
    Sub-cat: 2020(or different year)

    This is the reason of your problem, the posts have two categories and when you use categorypage=yes it grabs all posts which have any of these categories, so it just selects all posts with the “News” category. To get what you want you should use categorypage=all to select posts that have all the categories of the current post.
