    Hello,

    We are currently using the Business Directory Plugin, https://businessdirectoryplugin.com

    But are looking for more, is it possible to categorize the listing types and allow these to be segregated within the site.

    i.e. Mechanics
    Electricians
    Builders
    Cooks

    And add/vary form fields to each categorization?

    RE: is it possible to categorize the listing types and allow these to be segregated within the site.

    Yes, Connections supports categorizing entries. And, and entry can be attached to multiple categories. Similar to how WordPress Posts can be added to more than one category.

    You can also put separate categories on different pages on your site by using the category shortcode option.

    RE: And add/vary form fields to each categorization?

    Sorry, I am not exactly sure what is being asked, could you please give more details?

    Thank you,

    For each category we would like different Form Field values,

    Similar to:
    Car – Title – Description – Make, Model, Year, Engine Size
    Mountain Bike – Title – Description – Size, Suspension Type (Full, Front, No Suspension)

    etc

    Fields displayed, different per category, correct? Not actual different forms to add entries to the directory with different fields per category? Just trying to get on the same page so I do not give an incorrect answer.

    Different Fields for Display certainly,
    and Ideally different forms? Or the ability to hide those not applicable to a Category Form, so varying objects can be entered into the directory with different attributes.

    [Add Object Type 1] -> {Title, Email, Position, Qualifications, Department}
    [Add Object Type 2] -> {Title, Email, Location, Equipment, Website}

    It wouldn’t be terrible if all of those items had to exist for both types. But the forms need to be explicit for each type to allow it to be user friendly – the actual list of values is quite extensive.

    Thanks

    RE: Different Fields for Display certainly,

    This would require a custom template developed to meet you specific requirements.

    RE: Ideally different forms? Or the ability to hide those not applicable to a Category Form, so varying objects can be entered into the directory with different attributes.

    Well, the Pro Pack bundle includes an addon named Gravity Forms Connector Depending on what you imagine your workflow to be like, you could create a rather complex form and hide display fields based on selected category. The GF Connector does support custom text fields in Connections. This would be a rather complex setup that would require the advanced use of Gravity Forms and its Feeds features.

    So, it could work and well, or, not at all … it really depends on the details and the expected workflows. Sorry this is not a straightforward answer.
