Category and breadcrumb help

Hi,i’ve tried googling for the last hour and looked through every post to try and find a solution but can’t seem to work it out.

Currently my url to a page/post within a category is like this:
https://www.mysite.com/page and i want it to look like this:
https://www.mysite.com/category/page

i have tried editing the permalinks and changed it to Post name and even tried doing a custom one such as https://www.mysite.com/%category%/%page%/
and it still doesn’t work… any thoughts?

Also my breadcrumbs miss out the category. So if i was to navigate to a link to a category, then a page/post within it, the breadcrumbs doesn’t display the category so it jumps from Home to the Page/post and misses the category..could the above problem be causing this?
Like i said, i’ve tried googling through for both issues and can’t find a solution..
