• I am new at word press so slightly confused why this is happening. I am expecting the categories for posts to appear on the sidebar, but mine appear in the top menu. How do I change this? I have searched my admin and found no way to change it.

    My site: https://sharondrury.com

“Shows” is the category for the post

    Thank you for any help!

Thank you Krishna, but that did not help my problem. The “Shows” link in the menu is not set as a page. It is a category so there is no where to delete it from the menu. My menu is created for each page, but there is no where to delete the “Shows” in the menu since it is supposed to be a category for the blog. It is not listed as a page only a category, so I still do not know how to get it off the menu and into the sidebar where categories are supposed to be listed.

    Hello bcbunny

To make categories disappear from the top menu, please go to
{Appearance -> Menus} and select what you want to appear in a particular menu. Give the menu a name and select if you want to show it or not (depends upon theme to theme)

To make categories appear in the sidebar, go to {Appearance -> Widgets} and search for “Categories” tab. Drag it into the primary widget area and you’re good to go.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you jasjotbains,

I had found the Widgets area to add the categories to the sidebar, but could not find where to delete it from the menu. After following your instructions, my menu is now correct! Thank you very much for your help!

    Blessings
