Category block on category template issue

Hi @spello, I’m a little unclear on exactly what you mean – would you be able to share some screenshots/casts of what you’re doing so we can get a better idea?

It sounds like you expect the Categories Block to show parent categories within templates – instead of just the current categories within a post. Is that right?

If so – that’s not currently something that block is designed to do.

Category block

• displays category of current post (when placed on post template)

Improvement to add:

• display category of current category if current category has parent category set (when placed on category template)

Thank you for the explanation, @spello. Since this feature doesn’t exist yet, the best way here would be to file a new feature request for the editor. You can do this on the github repository for the block editor.
