Hi there, I’m loving your plugin but have two questions…is it possible to have different colour categories? I have two people with their own events and would like to showcase on one calendar but each with their own colour to differentiate? Is this possible?

Question 2…is it possible to change the way Organizer is spelt? I would like it to read Organiser.

If there is a pro version that allows these features please let me know, otherwise if I can do it in the normal version that would be great.

    Thanks so much
    Tracy

  • Hi, tbarlow.

    1. You can use this plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/the-events-calendar-category-colors/

    2. You can change the translation:
    2.1. Go to wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lang/
2.2 Find the file that ends with your language code:
    lang\the-events-calendar-xx_XX.po
(I assume your language will be en_GB, for UK)
2.3 Open this file (.po, not .mo) with the program PoEdit (https://poedit.net/)
2.4 Find “Organizer” and change to “Organiser” and any other stuff you want
    2.5 Save and that’s it.

** Problems: you may lost this in the next update of the plugin.

I’m currently trying to improve the translation to my language (pt_BR) by putting the files .po and .mo in \wp-content\languages, so I won’t lose in any updates, but the plugin doesn’t seems to recognize the file in this location.

If anyone know how to make this, I’d appreciate some help (in this thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/bad-translation-in-french-cant-find-where-to-change )

    Hi Ifreitas,

Thank you for your quick reply. I sorted out the category colours, thank you!
On following your instructions I opened the en_GB.po file with PoEdit and located the word in question ‘Organiser’ – it had two columns, 1 with Source text – English which showed the text with ‘Organiser’ in it and on the right hand column it shows Translation – English (United Kingdom) with the correct spelling ‘Organiser’. I’ve tried to edit the source text but I can’t. I’m not sure where I’m suppose to do the changes. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Sorry, it auto corrected the incorrect spelling of ‘Organizer’ in my previous post!

    Hi Tracy,

Thanks for using The Events Calendar.

We have a guide to changing Organizer to whatever you like:

Make sure to resave your permalinks after adding those snippets.

    Cheers

    Great glad it helps.

Thanks lfreitas for posting your response as well.

We have a ticket to enable translations to be used from another directory, but I do not have a timeline when that will be added to the plugins.

Since tbarlow has had both questions answers I am marking this resolved. If anything new comes up please post a new thread following www.ads-software.com policy.

    Cheers

(Assuming the risk to go off-topic here… sorry in advance)

Brian, thanks for your answer, it’s been days since I’m trying to figure it out.

Is there a way to change other terms besides venue and organizer?

The pt_BR translation to the filter bar “Events in” (%s In) and “Events from” (%s From) are really bad. I already suggested corrections in official site, but I assume it won’t be out fast enough.

Anyway, this thread is already done.

Check out this KB article on renaming the organizer and venue terms. Good luck and thanks for working with us!
