Category Exclusion problems

  • I have a category “poetry” on my site as a parent with child categories of “April 2020.” & another child with the author’s name. I want to show “April 2020” and other posts with the author’s child category attached in the widget and exclude any other posts from the parent “poetry” category.

    I assumed “perform the exclusion without children” would accomplish this but it does not. Am I missing something?

    Have you checked ?poetry“ (the parent category) for ?April 2020“ (the child categories)?
    That’s not right.
    If yes, please uncheck ?poetry“ (the parent category) for all child categories.
    The widget do only exclude checked child’s, not checked parents.
