I am not sure how to configure the plugin settings to map my category fields correctly.

Some of my products are in more than one category, so I know that google with select the top hierarchy category and only add it to the one category. However, I am finding that on my Google feed, google has added 3 categories to some of my products, even when that product does not have a sub-category. It is adding all of the top-level categories to the product.

I think I need to change the mapping of the variable g:product_type, but I’m not sure what this should be.

I want Google Shopping to only display the top-level category for each product.

What should I set this variable to?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Thanks for using our plugin and reaching out to us. Our plugin, unfortunately, does not have an option to only show the top-level category in the g:product_type field.

I am not sure how many products you have but perhaps its an option to create a separate WooCommerce attribute just for this purpose and set the proper values on your product edit pages for that new attribute and then map that attribute to Google’s g:product_type field?

Thank you for the quick response.

I think the suggestion you mention may take some time, due to the number of products I have in my store.

Instead, how would I map only the Top-level Category || Sub Category ?

At the moment, for products in more that one sub-category, it is adding all sub-categories to the Product_type. It looks very confusing. What is the best way to simplify this please?

    Thank you

    Hi,

That, unfortunately is not possible with our plugin. Our plugin is not aware of any category hierarchy.
