I have updated the Search Appearance in Yoast SEO settings

to include Page in the SEO Title and Meta Description
to avoid Search indexing errors with duplicates on paginated pages.

However – when I view the page – I cannot see the Page being included in the title

here is screenshot of the settings -> https://share.getcloudapp.com/7Ku8yB1w

I have turned off all site caching, cleared all local browser cache
    – what else can I try? its driving me nuts – therefore bound to be something silly

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @markemark,

    Thanks for reaching out!

On viewing the page source of https://www.sober-services.com/category/addiction-treatment/page/2/, the SEO title is:

    <title>Addiction Treatment Archives &bull; Page 2 of 5 &bull; Sober Services</title>

That is, Category Archives Separator Page 2 of 5 Separator Site Title. Indeed the page is included in the title.

If this does not meet your expectation, can you let us know what you will have expected?

    Hi Maybellyne,

    hope your safe and well.

yes the title is working BUT the description is not.

<meta property=”og:description” content=”Articles and posts about the most suitable methods available for addiction treatment and associated disorders.”>

No Page – despite this being in the SEO template.

    Hi @markemark

We tried to replicate the issue on our local setup with Yoast SEO v15.0 and default theme TwentyNinteen but to no avail.

Just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

Hi I just deactivated all plugins (except Yoast)
and switched to twenty Twenty theme – but STILL the description doesn’t show the page.

I also checked integrity of all files (through Wordfence and Site Health plugin) – all ok.

    Hi,

It’s possible that you’ve set a specific meta description for this category https://www.sober-services.com/category/addiction-treatment. Could you please edit this category and see what you’ve set for the meta description in the Yoast SEO meta box? If you’ve inputted a title in the Yoast SEO meta box, it will take precedence over the title template in the Search Appearance menu.

We also do see that you are using Yoast SEO Premium v15.0 for your website. Do you have an active subscription? If so, you can always contact us directly for support — https://yoast.com/help/support/#premium

    @mikes41720 – that was it…. Dooh.

the Posts > Categories > Yoast SEO Meta Description – was overwriting the template –
Yoast SEO Search Appearance > Taxonomies > Category > Meta Description.

Interestingly if I leave the Posts > Categories > Yoast SEO Meta Description blank and update the category – when page refreshes, it populates with the template settings.

Thanks I knew it was something simple ??

I see now how this issue happened.

    1) Edit template – added just %%category_description%%
    2) Edit a category – this populates the Meta Description with what is in the template
    3) Now edit the template added %%category_description%% %%page%%
    4) Now edit a category – the description was edited only – however now the Yoast SEO meta description is populated just with %%category_description%% therefore the template change did not propogate.

this seems to be an issue in Yoast – if I edit a category the current template is populated into the category meta data – if I then change the template – this category is not updated.. hope that makes sense.
