    After I updated the plugin now category page meta description is same as the latest post meta description instead of category description. I have got lot of duplicate description errors in Google webmaster tools. I want to have category description in category page for meta description instead of latest post description.

    Please provide the URL for your site and for a category where this is happening.

    this is the category url: https://fullyfootball.com/transfer-news
    Original Category description:
    Get here all football transfer news and rumors of all major leagues like Premier league, La liga and others.

    Currently showing this description[Same to the latest post]: Manchester United Recently signed Victor Valdes for 18 months which means creating doubts in the mind of David De Gea as a first choice keeper and also inviting.

    So the first thing to understand is that you cannot control SEO meta for categories using the free plugin, if you want to set the SEO meta for categories and tags then you have to purchase All in One SEO Pack Pro.

    In the free plugin, we will automatically use the description you set in the category as the Meta Description. However, if you want control over this then you should purchase the Pro version.

    Try deleting and reinstalling the plugin and deactivate whatever plugin you are using to strip HTML comments from your source code because we cannot troubleshoot this without seeing the HTML comments.

    In previous version I was getting the description That I set in the category as the Meta Description. But now I am getting the latest article/post description as the category meta description.

    I checked the plugin on new wordpress website and have the same problem with 2.2.4.2 version.

    Hi umeranis,

    I’ve confirmed that this is a bug; I’ll fix it in the next release, in the meantime you can fix it by editing the file aioseop_class.php in the plugin and removing or commenting out line # 1610 – here’s what it’d look like, commented out:

    // if ( !empty( $opts ) ) $description = $opts['aiosp_description'];

    Thanks for helping me to fix it.

    Also, when on a category page it’s grabbing all the keywords for ALL the posts on the first page of the category. Not really that important but it is a bug.

    HI Sho-Down,

    That is correct functionality if you have enabled Dynamically Generate Keywords – https://semperplugins.com/documentation/keyword-settings/#dynamically-generate-keywords-for-posts-page

    Sho-Down would you mind sharing what you commented out of the file, I would really appreciate it. I can’t see line numbers in the file so I’m at a loss and the term is appearing twice in the HTML.

    Grace

    What are you referring to Grace? Peter gave us the line to comment out, just search for:

    if ( !empty( $opts ) ) $description = $opts['aiosp_description'];

    and in front of it put: //

    That will comment the line out.
