• Hi there,

I have read a lot ont his issue and tried to rectify the issue but….
    i keep receiving
    Error 403: Forbidden
You don’t have permissions to access this page. This usually means one of the following:

this file and directory permissions make them unavailable from the Internet.
.htaccess contains instructions that prevent public access to this file or directory.
Please check file and directory permissions and .htaccess configuration if you are able to do this. Otherwise, request your webmaster to grant you access.

The file permissions on .htaccess is set to 666 as recommended this file is located in the root directory of the site tho as recommended if the wordpress folder is a sub dir.

CHMOD to 755 the folders as outlined here
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Make_a_Directory_Writable

    and still no luck.

    Can anyone please help.

    Thanks

There is nowhere such a recommendation. The .htaccess should ALWAYS be in the WP folder! (in WP’s root, not the site’s root)

I have moved the .htaccess file to the root folder of wordpress but still no luck.

There is nothing in the .htaccess file referring to categories so is there something i have to add manually first?

Thanks for your help I appreciate it.

At this point a link would be beneficial to see what’s happening…

Everything works from this end, even without logging in or doing anything.
I also logged in, created a new category (“new” – delete it); everything seems to be fine.

    moshu,
So it seems now to be functional. In the end it must have been the htaccess file location.
thank you for your help it really was appreciated as this is my first Wp install.
