Category Pages Timeout and Won’t Finish Loading

  • I currently have 59 categories, around 10,000 tags, and about 57,000 posts. Most of my category pages work great, but I’ve got a couple that have around 6,000 posts in them that do not load. It’ll load the header, part of the body, and then stops.

    Is this timeout problem more likely related to my server/hosting? Or is there a WordPress limitation on the number of posts/tags we’re allowed?

    Update: I looked at the source code for the category pages that aren’t loading and found this fatal error:

    Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 77332480) (tried to allocate 44 bytes) /home/public_html/wp-includes/taxonomy.php on line 1885

    Anyone know of a fix or solution for this?
