    Hi

I am working on a site that wants to show blog posts by certain categories. However, when I try to narrow down the category choice, the page doesn’t seem to reflect this. Below is the code I am using.

    [bdp_post_carousel category=”62″]

    Thanks
    Danielle

    Hi @japstyle

Thanks for the web page link.

Please make sure you have have added plugin shortcode properly. Sometimes what happen while adding the shortcode, the double quote (“) are converted to special character and break the functionality.

Please remove the double quote and add them again also please verify the category ID is correct.

Please try the above steps. I hope it will work for you.

Hi thanks for looking at this for me. I see what you mean, in the code I posted. I have just retyped from scratch, and tried with a few category ids but so far its still not working.
I have tried using the id and the category name.
Is there something else I need to check? I have tried this on an empty page using gutenburg blocks, just in case the Elementor plugin was conflicting.

    Hello @japstyle

I tried both case at my end with category id and category slug ( https://prntscr.com/1qd4wyn ) and everything is working fine. Please try like below.

    [bdp_post_carousel category="XX" loop="false"]

where XX is category id or slug.

Also please share the shortcode screenshot that you are using.

Please use bellow custom CSS for font size:

    .bdp-post-carousel.bdp-design-1 .bdp-post-title{font-size: 20px;font-size: 1.5rem;}

Hi, thanks for the update. I have tried again with the code you posted, double checking the speech marks etc. I have added a screenshot below. Unfortunately it is showing more than one category. I will have to try again at disabling plugins in case that is the problem, since I cannot see how we can fix it otherwise.

    Hi @japstyle

    Thanks for your response.

It’s very strange. Is there any plugin which have a functionality to modify WP Query or WordPress category related?

I think there may be any hook or filter which is modifying plugin query but I am not sure of it.

Yes please deactivate other plugins and switch your theme with WordPress default theme. May this help to troubleshoot.

Please try the above and update me for the same.

    Thanks for your patience.

Hi, I have checked through the plugins and one called Masterstudy LMS was stopping the category filter from working. I contacted them and they said they cannot make the plugin compatible with this one. Is there anything we can do from this side to override it, as the site is built around that plugin, as the main point of the site.

    Thanks

    Hi @japstyle

    Thanks for the detailed response.

So this is the plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/masterstudy-lms-learning-management-system/) right?

Please allow me some time so I can test “News & Blog Designer Pack – WordPress Blog Plugin” with this LMS plugin and debug it what they are doing.

I hope I will find something to make it work.

I will wait for any findings you may have.
    Thanks

    Hi @japstyle

Thanks for your patience. I have checked “News & Blog Designer Pack” plugin with “Master Study LMS” plugin and category parameter is working fine.

I did not find any issue with the plugin.

It looks like you have specific setting setup with plugin which may cause the issue with category parameter.

Please provide me the step to generate the issue or reach out to our website chat section to debug the issue.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I really appreciate you taking time to check this out.
After some more discussion with my client right now, we have decided to remove Masterstudy LMS from the website due to some other limitations.

I would say this support issue is resolved, as you said above the category parameter is working fine.

Once again thank you for all your assistance.
