Category Select Drop Down Question

Hello,
In the category drop down menu to submit links, is there a way to have no category selected until the user chooses? (i.e. – the menu might say ‘–select–‘, and once clicked shows a full list of categories). I ask because having a category already selected causes a lot of accidental postings by users not paying close enough attention.
