• Hi folks,

I’m using WPEC 3.8.14.3 and WP 4.0 and I have a strange problem.

My store has been running for two years now and today I wanted to add a new product category and some child categories. Adding the categories was successful and the structure seemed OK, marking the child categories with an “-” under the parent.

After adding the child categories I noticed in the store front category list that it only displayed the new parent category and not the child categories. In the admin page the “-” child marking was gone and the child categories became independent categories. Changing this manually does not fix the problem.

Worse problem is that an existing parent category lost its child categories and I cannot restore this. Re-assigning the child categories is not saved to database or wherever it is saved.

Weird thing is that the correct structure is shown in the drop down box of the admin page, but not in the category list. So somewhere the structure is saved…

I hope anyone is able to tell me what’s going on here?

    Regards,

    Thomas

Could anyone maybe at least tell me how the category structure is created and stored? I am not a genius but I can figure some things out if you point me in the right direction…

So I figured, let’s see what the WP blog categories do, maybe they work the same as the shop categories. Making new category works OK. Making new subcategory works OK too. It saves, I can make messages and put them in subcategories.

This unlike the WPEC categories, where I make a subcategory which at first seems OK but then disappears from the category list. what is happening here?
