Category/Tag echo with PHP

    Is there a way to echo the currently viewed category or tag in the PHP twig file, or perhaps in shortcode or some other code?

    For example, ideally landing on events/cat_ids~1 or events/tag_ids~1 would print out the corresponding category or tag at the top of the page?
