Category taxonomy – Code instead of text?

    I think perhaps the category taxonomy in the xml feed should be converted to a numeric code, instead of text because of all the categories and subcategories causing “unknown google product category” errors.

    In other words, this
    <g:google_product_category>2271</g:google_product_category>

    instead of

    <g:google_product_category>Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Dresses</g:google_product_category>

    Hello @vuster,

    It is perfectly fine to use the English category terms for the category.
    NOt sure why you get the Unknown Google Product category notification.
    What is the category your getting this message?

    Animals & Pet Supplies > Dog Supplies > Dog Diapers

    The correct sequence should be

    Animals & Pet Supplies > Pet Supplies > Dog Supplies > Dog Diapers

    But I can’t get the plugin to generate that.

    Hello @vuster,

    Our plugin will generate the category like “Animals & Pet Supplies > Pet Supplies > Dog Supplies > Dog Diapers”

    Please when you want to edit the category first reset the dropdown by selecting “Select a sub-category” Everything in the dropdown will be reset. Than try again.

    First: Animals & Pet Supplies, than Pet Supplies as third Dog Supplies and as last select Dog Diapers

    All of the subcategories cannot be selected. The dropdown just doens’t show up.
    But I have found a workaround by bypassing the Default Category and using the Category Mapping on the right.

    Good you found a workaround.
    But is not the way the plugin should behave.
    Could you show a screenshot of the dropdown not working?

    Have you tried to create a new feed and check if the behavior is different in that feed?

    Clicking the triangle doesn’t show the dropdown menu
    Yes, I have tried creating a new feed. When I first set it up it’s fine and I can select the correct category and subcategories. But checking the xml file it doesn’t show the right sequence, so I tried to “edit” the default but the dropdown menu wouldn’t show.

    AT first I thought its a chrome issue. Tried Firefox and still same.

    Try and create a new feed.
    completely new feed and report back what is happening.
