Category Template, expired events

Hi – when a category page is viewed, but the events in that category are expired and don’t display, there is no message that displays on the cat template and I’m not seeing where/how I can add that in the list/default.php template or in the event_loop_list template part. I’m assuming this behavior will also happen when using the [event-list] shortcode on page.

I don’t really want blank content displaying, need to have some kind of “no events at this time” message instead. Can you advise?
