Category widget not updating when future post becomes visible.

My scenario is similar to Ticket #4913 and Ticket #5488…

I create a new post, select 1 or more categories, set the time into the future.

When that time comes, the post appears in my blog’s homepage (index.php); and the “post_info” shows the categories I selected when I created the post.

-> The problem is that the Category widget (in the sidebar) does not update when future post becomes visible.

What can I do to fix this?

(My thought is: What happens when you save a post with current time that does not happen when you save a post with a future time? Then, how and when should that be handled for future posts?)

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

NOTE: I have added the code that is given as a solution to the 2 tickets mentioned above, but the problem persists.

NOTE: Opening and resaving the post works, but is NOT a solution. The whole purpose of giving a future date is so that the process can be automated.
