• I′m looking for a category widget where I can choose which categories to show. I′m constructing a travel blog, and in my main page all the categories are listed in the widget – which is fine. However, I have an own page which lists my post from category “where to stay” with several under categories of countries and towns, and I would like the hierarchy for just this specific category to show in a widget on this page. (I know it′s possible to show/hide widget on specific pages, so that′s not the problem here). Any ideas how to do it?

  • Hi, i have the same problem, the same widget cannot be used on different post pages. I have to pages and would like the widget category to show on hierarchy in one page and other hierarchy on the other page. since it is the same widget it shows me the same values and does not make sense.

please if you find the answer let me know. as it is importatn for me as well. I have post the same question.

    I got the answer..two steps:

    1. create a menu and add only the categories that you want it to show
    2. install and activate the dropdown meny plug in and drag it to your sidebar only choosing the create menu

the step 3 will be to “how to hide widgets per page. I believe I saw that forum but this is half of the problem solved.

the other part you can use the Widget Logic plugin to hide widget…voila!!
