CAU causing WP admin login to fail

    It would appear that CAU has stopped me logging into wordpress admin. After deactivating CAU plugin I’m now able to login again. So far this has affected 3 domains on one hosting account. I have yet to check my other hosting accounts.
    What has changed? I would like to continue using CAU rather than WP 5.5 auto updates. Action taken to get error is; 1. enter WP admin username and password. 2. resulting screen says ‘ERROR thrown’ ‘Call to undefined function wp_next_schedule()’
