The plugin works as described and is very useful. However it has a side effect on my site.

Even with “Hide from directory” set to “No” it causes all members to disappear from the Members page.

The member count also shows zero. But if I click on “All Members” then they all show up as normal, although the count is still zero.

It is just the initial loading of the members page that seems to be broken. Any idea what might be causing this?

On the plus side, I modified buddypress-profile-privacy.php and changed /register/ to /forbidden/ which is a page that says you need to be logged in to see this page.

That’s odd, I haven’t come across that. What version of BuddyPress are you using? Have you tried disabling all the other plugins you are using except BuddyPress and this one?

    Hi Fencer,

I’m using the current version of all the software and tried different themes.

I don’t want to disable any of my plugins, but have done the reverse and verified disabling yours stops the problem.

I am going to try earlier versions of your plugin and see if they cause the same problem.

Selecting any filter from your dropdown box will display the members, but refreshing the page will hide them again.

    Yes it’s very weird.

Disabling mine doesn’t tell me if there is a conflict with another plugin. That is a really important part of diagnosing the issue. Let me know if an earlier version solves your problem.

Tried 0.7.3 and got the same result.

Will try disabling all my other plugins and hope I don’t cause another problem in the process.

Okay, the plugin that is causing the problem is “Eonet Manual User Approve”, which should only affect registration.

Don’t know if that helps you, but doesn’t help me. Been very lucky with WP and never had a plugin conflict with one I really needed.

No idea where to go from here. Guess I’ll muddle through with trying different ideas.

I will install the plugin on my side and see what the conflict is. I’m hoping to have time later today but I will keep you posted.

Thanks. It will be much appreciated. Night time here so no hurry.

So I’ve figured out why there is a conflict but haven’t come up with a resolution. That being said in testing I figured out that the plugin you are using doesn’t work very well. If you turn off my plugin (so that everything starts working) and then search for a username that has been registered but not approved. Those users will still show up.

I don’t think that is what you are looking for when using it.

Thanks for taking the time and effort over this.

I do need your plugin, so I will ditch the Eonet one and try
    “BuddyPress Registration Options” tomorrow.

Thank you, I’m going to mark this as resolved. If you need any other help let me know.

Also, at some point, I plan on creating a premium version of this plugin. Would you be interested in testing it in exchange for a license?

    (@sandgroper)

Yes I would be willing to be a guinea pig for a trial of a new version. My site is still in the development stage.

Actually, I have decided there is no need for people to see the membership list on the site. If they click on groups or events, the members do actually show. So I can probably keep the Eonet plugin.

But I still might try the other registration plugin.

You’re right. That Eonet plugin causes more problems than it fixes.
