cerber_files too many rows

    We use updraft for our website backups and they have been failing recently due to the below comment:

    * Table wpXXX_cerber_files has very many rows (424724) – we hope your web hosting company gives you enough resources to dump out that table in the backup If not, you will need to either remove data from this table, or contact your hosting company to request more resources.

    How do I go about fixing this so our backups work again?

    You have to exclude the table from a backup. This is the only correct way of solving this issue.
