cersion 3.8.4 not compatible with WP version 5.5.3

    After upgrading the Smush plugin from 3.8.3 to 3.8.4 on this website using WordPerss version 5.5.3 the media library is blank and you can’t add media via posts.

    I rolled back to 3.8.3 and the media library came back.

    Just a heads up on backwards compatibility.

    Sorry to hear you are having this issue.

    I tried to replicate the problem on a lab site using Smush and WordPress 5.5.3 but it worked as expected.

    I tested without other plugin and the default theme, it can indicate a possible plugin or theme conflict, a plugin or theme conflict with Smush and cause the error.

    We always suggest using the latest WordPress version, but the 5.5.3 is not too old and the Smush should work fine.

    Kindly create a staging website, you can use a plugin like the wp staging and run a full plugin and theme conflict test following:
