• When I publish a post, I view the homepage in Chrome and there’s the new post, all waiting to be read. If I then visit my blog in Firefox or IE, it’s not there until I hard refresh the page, then it appears!

Any idea what may be causing this problem please?

  • Your site might be running a cache plugin (Super Cache, Total Cache, blah blah blah), which could cause a brief lag.

You could also do your editing in Firefox, and see if it behaves like Chrome. If it does, then you probably just will need to wait for your stuff to appear.

    Cheers

No cache plugins on the site.

I’ll have a go editing with Firefox but can’t see how what I do in the admin area will affect what the browser sees on the front end…

    Any more thoughts folks?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Done the plugins one, no luck.

I’ll try the theme although I’m using a paid theme from Studiopress and it should be up to speed and I’ll have a go with the last.

Thanks for the ideas, most appreciated ??

OK – I did the final suggestion and no luck.

I changed to the Twenty Eleven theme and in Chrome it showed up the new theme. In Firefox, each time I visited the page it showed up the old theme until I hard refreshed! :-/

Pk – now that sounds like you have a problem with the Firefox set up. Are you using your ISP’s cache?

Not aware of it and wouldn’t Chrome use the same cache?

    How can I check please?

wouldn’t Chrome use the same cache

No. From what I recall, Chrome is hardwired to use Google’s cache.

I’ve run ff in safe mode with all add-ons disabled and it’s no better.
