I got everything working in my local environment, which uses WAMP and the same theme as my live site, but when I deployed it live, I ran into issues with webp, gifsicle, etc. so I decided to go with the cloud processing option.

Now that everything has been optimised though, some pages on my site simply won’t load. I’ll go the URL, and it’ll pull up a white page. I view-source and there’s literally nothing on the page.

If I deactivate EWWW and go back to the same page, the page loads just fine.

    Please advise.

Interestingly, this issue is ‘solved’ by installing the Cache Enabler plugin. That is, I doubt that the core is resolved, but at least the page loads now.

Although JPG’s on the page don’t see to have been converted to webp.

I should also mention that I used a CDN, which is why I installed Cache Enabler

I just took a peak in the ‘Uploads’ directory, and it appears that for some reason, only a smaller version of that image was every converted to webp, which is quite curious.

The image files (ending in 4940) can be see below:

The Cache Enabler webp option is cleaner than the Alt WebP, but hard to say for sure why it was having troubles. Most often, the issue is with bad html code in the theme, but hard to say without seeing your regular pages.

The reason not all images get converted to WebP is because EWWW only uses WebP when it is smaller than the JPG. In some cases, it isn’t. That’s why any WebP solution needs to check to make sure the .webp file exists (which Cache Enabler does).
