CF7 checkboxes will not fill in on Frontend and do not send

  • I use Elementor Pro, Ocean Theme and Contact Form 7. This is my first attempt. I have gotten the reCaptcha working, the emailing working. Now the issue:

    I have two fields that are checkboxes. They will not fill in with a check mark. It fills with a weird character and no information for those fields are sent via email.

    I read where I need to disable the Ocean Theme. If I do that, won’t my website ‘break’.

    Please help, I’m new to Word Press. If I can get this figured out, I have to do a much larger project for this nonprofit organization on their website.

    Exactly the theme is causing it. Contact the theme author and ask for support.

    and no information for those fields are sent via email.

    This is a different problem. What email settings do you have in the Mail tab panel?

    I have installed the WP Form SMTP and setup a Gmail API. All other information works as expected and I get the test results as a positive. Filled in the form and actually submitted and it worked great. Just no info sent from checkboxes.

    But if I cannot check the boxes, that would be the issue right?
    This is what is sent via email for the checkboxes:

    Handicap Room Requested: NoYes

    Dietary Restrictions: Seafood, shell fish only and steak

    Activities I am interested in: Kayak Rental, Massage
