CF7 Dropdown/Select Breaks Forms After Updating to PHP 8.1

    It appears that when a dropdown/select list is added to forms, the forms no longer submit after updating a website to PHP 8.1. A 500 error response is logged to the console upon submission and the ajax loader is stuck on an “infinite load”.

    Hey @takayukister I actually replied to you in the wrong issue, I created two issues and this is the one I meant to respond in:

    It’s on our staging website which is hopefully accessible to you. On this page I put together 2 contact forms that are exactly the same, except one has a dropdown and the other does not. The one with the dropdown does not send.

    @takayukister it is a custom theme with the following currently active plugins:

    Try switching to the default theme, deactivating all plugins excluding Contact Form 7 and Yoast SEO, and clearing all cache data.

    Why you are advised to deactivate plugins and switch to the default theme.

    Hey @takayukister, I discovered that the issue was with the “Contact Form DB” plugin which was outdated and hasn’t been updated in years. Disabling this plugin resolved the issue for me. It must have had some code that was no longer supported with the newer versions of PHP.
