CF7 takes 30+ seconds to send message

I have 2 sites on godaddy both using contact form 7 for several years. Last time I checked to see it’s working I found that it takes 30+ seconds to get a confirmation the message has been sent. Messages are received, just takes too long to send. Does this on both sites. Called Godaddy, they say there’s no server issue. I updated all plugins, no change. I disabled all other plugins including cf7 style, still no change. Previously I was using WP Mail SMTP plugin but it stopped working several months ago. Godaddy then helped me configure email routing in godaddy cpanel with ‘remote mail exchanger’ enabled and it’s worked fine since until I last checked, now it’s taking very long to send.
