Hi, I would like to change admin’s login name. I’ve browsed the datebase and found a table called wp_users which has a column called users_login where I found an “admin”. I guess that’s the login used by the administrator to login, isn’t? Clever guy… ??
Can I change that login in the DB without breaking anything or that login must be kept and never changed? Cause I didn’t find any place in the webpages to change that name….
    Thanks.

  • That can be changed either in the db, or through the ‘my profile’ section of the admin panel. Look for the ‘identity on blog’ section and choose your poison….I think that usually just offers permutations of admin and whatever you’ve input in the profile for first and last names.

You can edit it in the database directly, both the login and password field. ??

Except that soon the password will be hashed, so manual changes to it will result in not being able to login.

It’ll still be possible to change it via the normal WP admin screen, just not by updating the database directly. That is all.
How one would be able to correct it if problems arose? I don’t know… use the “Forget Password” link??
