Change background color – need explicit instructions

I cannot figure out how to change the green background color behind the event titles on this calendar to a different color (specifically, #666666).

I have seen other threads about this, but they all give general advice like “change it in the css”.
Can someone please give me more specific advice: which CSS file? Can I add it to my WordPress theme CSS? How exactly do I add it, what exactly do I need to type? Do I have to add it to one of the CSS files in the Plugins Folder for WP FullCalendar on my server? Which one? How exactly do I add it?
I don’t know why this is stumping me so much, but none of my usual processes of elimination has worked. I would appreciate any leads — please explain as if to a five-year-old (who is good at following directions). Thank you!
