Change Background Colour

I have tried the Customizer, but the only thing that I have been able to change is the text colouring. I am looking to change the background colour to not be transparent but to be a solid white. Would there by any chance be some CSS that I can use for this?

Finally, you might want to try playing with the Events Template setting under Events -> Settings -> Display
