• Hello,

is it possible to alter the breadcrumb to a single post?

I would like the article that now has this path in the breadcrumb nav:

Publikationen > Autoren > 01 Jacques Delors > Erasmus Pro: eine Million ?Junge europ?ische Auszubildende“ bis 2020

to be more convenient like this:

Publikationen > Wirtschafts- und W?hrungsunion > Erasmus Pro: eine Million ?Junge europ?ische Auszubildende“ bis 2020

This would mean that I would have to reflect the main menu in the breadcrumb and choose a different category to be displayed…

Are alterations like this possible? I already bought the “Menu Magic” extension to achieve that.

    Thanks a lot!
    Sincerely,
    Arne

Breadcrumb NavXT will select the first category that has a parent should a post be a member of multiple categories. In a sense, it prefers a more specific categorization (though it does not attempt to find the most specific categorization). In reality, each post should be a member of only one category (we have tags, and custom taxonomies available to us).

Your options for overriding this behavior are as follows:

    1. Split from using multiple categories per a post, to having one primary category and multiple tags, or other taxonomy terms.
    2. Use Menu Magic to define the location of every post, this will likely be tedious.
    3. Extend the bcn_breadcrumb_trail object and replace the post_hierarchy() member function with one that picks the category you want (probably want to use a post_meta item to identify the preferred category).
