notice how the screen name author for this post, thewealthiest, is in medium blue color. Then look at the lighter blue color used for the hyperlink, support, and developing with wordpress. How is it possible to change those colors for all posts. I am leaning towards a light blue for author category and date.

I wish that WordPress would include in its settings the ability to customize the color of those texts from the dashboard. I have searched online for tutorials on YouTube and via search engines but I am seeking a clear explanation.

Front-end styling — including all the colours you see on your site — is the job of your active theme. That’s not the job of WordPress core.

These are choices made by your theme’s author. The fact that your link colours mimic the default WordPress dashboard colour scheme, or that you see similar colours on other sites, is just a coincidence. WordPress doesn’t control this.

Some classic themes have the option to customize the colours of various sections in Customizer. With block-based themes, you can easily customize the colours of most elements in the Site Editor.

If you’re using a 3rd-party page builder plugin, this may be controlling the colours you see on your site and may have options to customize these colours.

As a last result, you can always use custom CSS to override any default colours from your active theme and/or page builder plugin.

If you can provide your own public site address, I could take a look and give you a specific custom CSS code you can copy and paste to get your desired colour(s). If you’re unable or unwilling to share your site address, you may seek help from your theme’s author.

    Standing by.

It seems your site is https://www.chillreptile.com, where you uploaded the screenshot.

This site uses the Thrive Theme Builder theme, along with the Thrive Architect (aka Thrive Visual Editor) plugin. These two, together, control all the layouts and styling on your site… including the link colour that you desire to change.

Please follow Thrive Theme’s documentation here to customize your link color: https://help.thrivethemes.com/en/articles/4425867-how-to-apply-specific-styles-to-a-link

If you need further help with this, please get in touch with your Thrive Themes for help: https://thrivethemes.com/contact/

Because these are commercial products you’re using, we’re unable to install them and offer any support here. The vendor that built and sold these products should be in the best position to hep you use the products you purchased from them.

    Good luck!

That was an example because I have not launched my site yet. chillreptile is not my site. I am using Astra free version and I did not see the feature to customize the color of the section with author, category and date of blog posts. I have also been using elementor free version. I am very new to site building. I figured there is a way via custom CSS code. However I am not certain of that. I know that finding the color code is fairly easy as most colors use a universal color code. But how to specifically and only change the color of the author, category date section in word press blog, via code or otherwise is not entirely clear.

The Astre theme has various colour options in APPEARANCE > CUSTOMIZE > THEME OPTIONS > COLORS. But the most you’re going to get is one colour for all links in the content area.

You’re not likely to find any theme that gives you this level of granular control over link colours.

But here’s your Astra theme’s own support forum if you’d like to throw this to the theme’s author: https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/astra/

I have also been using elementor free version.

The Elementor plugin might give you this level of granular control of link colors. But I’m not that familiar with the plugin, so I can’t help you at all. But here’s the Elementor plugin’s own support forum if you’d like to ask the author: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/elementor/

As you’ve correctly identified, the challenge is not in the choice of hammer to use, but where to strike whichever hammer you choose to use.

And every site is different in this regard.

What you need to do is use your browser’s developer console to examine your own site’s HTML source code to know the exact CSS selectors to target to make the desired change without affecting any other part of the site. Of course, that presupposes you know the basics of HTML and CSS.

Again, if you could provide a link to your site — even a test (but public) page, I could take a look and give you the exact CSS code to use. There’s unfortunately no way to help otherwise.

    Good luck!
