you can search the plugins for ‘custom CSS’ – however, you will still need to know what styles you need to edit; try using a browser inspection tool like Firebug for this.

I don’t think you will be able to find plugins just for changing sidebar header colors.

I thought it would be a matter of css, I read on one of the theme forums that the way to do it was via a plug in. I felt a plug in for that would have been overkill. Thanks for the reply. The firebug tip is well recieved thanks again
