• My WordPress blog is hosted in Go Daddy (godaddy.com). Two domains point to the blog. At this moment, the primary domain is “bloglauco.com”. I installed my blog in this domain.

Some days ago, I registered another domain: “tothblog.com”. This new domain is also pointing to that same hosting account — the same WordPress blog.

However, now I want to make “tothblog.com” the new primary domain.

OK, I know how I can do that. I know how to change primary domain. It’s easy. But I write this message because I don’t know if I can normally change domain when there is a WordPress blog installed on it via.

Is all database directed to “bloglauco.com”? So if I change primary domain I’ll loose my blog?! How could I make the change?

The blog is normally accessed via tothblog.com, but all the links in the blog point to bloglauco.com. I don’t like this behaviour.

    Thank you very much.

  • Hi,

    Check with this article:

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

I hosted with go daddy changed my domain from a .info to a .com and for 4 days coudn’t get everything right which drove me absolutely bonkers because I had main page up but all the tabs were in .info mode and “parked” courtesy of go daddy. Thought I was going to have to learn sql data base! Now Im laughing but WASN’T at the time. If all you’ve done is changed the domain name then:

I got it up in 5 minutes after Josh Holloway answered my question on wprecipes.com

    Word press admin area

    Settings

    WordPress Address URL

Change this to your new URL.

So simple I could just pinch myself! Unbelievable and I had pages of info I had worked on for months.
    Happy again in wordpress world.
