ok, thanks. I wanted to avoid installing any other plugin. Was wondering if I could edit a .mo file?

You can download the woocommerce.pot file under wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/i18n/languages/ and use a tool like https://poedit.net to translate it and generate .po and .mo files. Once done, you can name the files as:

• woocommerce-aa_AA.po
• woocommerce-aa_AA.mo

where aa_AA is the code for your language (e.g., fr_FR). The files above can be placed under – wp-content/languages/woocommerce/
