Change frontend html for cart / checkout

How do I change how the custom fields and their values are presented on the cart page, cart popup and checkout? Currently, I cannot find any way to modify the default <dl style=”font-size: smaller;”> … </dl>
Because of this, I cannot control the design and presentation on the cart or checkout pages.
Could you assist?
