• A bit odd I know, but I can’t determine how to change the main text on the home page. There is no “Home” in pages.

    Thanks for your help ??

  • If you have configured WordPress to show your latest posts in your front page via Settings -> Reading, then this page is not a static page and will be generated on demand by WordPress & your theme. Do you want to create a static front page?

Thanks for the quick response ??

The site in question is here: nickjbroom.com

Settings > Reading is set to latest post. However, I have zero posts, but DO have homepage content. What I can’t determine is how to access the existing homepage text to update it (it’s been ages since I first created this site).

    Thanks again.

Your site’s home page is currently generated on demand. There is no static page to edit.

Sorry but what does that mean? How can I access and update the text? Obviously I added the text originally.

    Thanks

Are you using a child theme?

No, I’m using the Colorway Lite Theme right out of the box.

    Thanks again

In that case, you need to first create a child theme for your changes.

Maybe I wasn’t clear; This site has been in use for a couple years. When I first created it, I was able to add homepage text. Now I would like to update that text, but am unable to find where it is located.
I can’t see why there would be a need for a child theme in this case.

Does anyone have any idea where the homepage text for the Colorway Lite Theme is located?

    Thanks

Try Appearance -> Theme Options -> Home Page Settings or Home Top Feature.

That’s for Colorway – there doesn’t seem to be a ColorWay Lite theme in the theme repository on this site. Hopefully they are the same or similar.

If not, maybe InkThemes can help you track that down.

Thanks for that. In the end, I was able to modify the text at front-page.php

Hi Meltdown, Im after what you have done, If you see my website home page
im trying to edit that text, and I cannot seem to locate it in order to update some of my details. So could you please give me the steps how you did it please? where is this front-page.php you have stated?

If you notice my home page in the “what I do” it says 5 years experience, and Id like to add: 6 years experience.

But I cannot locate this text anywhere so I may update it…

    Thank you.

    graphomet, I followed these steps:

    1) Go to your-site/wp-content/themes/colorway.1.7/colorway/front-page.php

    2) At around line 66 I added the desired text, in html form, just after the </h1>:

    <p align=”center”>text here</p>

    Good luck!
