Change Icon Buttons

My website background is blue. The icons don’t show up very well on it. In your example the second set of buttons show a white background with a border, but that’s not what I get when I select it. I get the same thing as when I select square, except that the corners are rounded. How do I get the buttons that show in the second example please.
