change in site url

    website https://www.hitechcon.in

    I will try to explain in as short as possible:
    I installed wordpress theme ozone for the above mentioned domain / site but forgot to take out “wp” which follows the site url now.
    On requesting help to remove “wp”from site url, i was informed that the installation was done in wp folder, instead it should have been in public_html file, hence please move the files to public_html.
    so it was done..the issue still remains.

    I am informed to change the url in MYphp wp_options, which was done,

    now what i get if i login as

    1) hitechcon.in –
    the response is “error establishing a database connection”

    2) hitechcon.in/wp/ –
    the response is “page not found” but displays the home page slider, sometimes “page under construction” page

    3) hitechcon.in/wp/wp-admin –
    the response is “error establishing a database connection”, but sometimes the dashboard page opens up, but you click anywhere on page, immediately the blank page opens up with “error establishing a database connection” page.

    I am not sure what to do next…please help

  • What you had originally is how I usually do things. And there is a link just below the Site URL field on the Settings page for https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
    You can try moving things back how they were (restore backup?) and start from there, or work through what you’ve done to see how it matches with the instructions.
    The reason there are two different inputs for Site URL and WordPress URL is that WordPress can control the site URL from a different folder. So the WordPress URL is where the files for the WordPress software reside, and the Site URL is what you want your visitors to see.
    Be aware that the content of your site can contain links to other pages, which should be like the Site URL, and also images which should be like the WordPress URL.

    but i am unable to access admin page
    i tried logging in mysite.in/wp-admin or even mysite.in/wp/wp-admin it says
    ERROR ESTABLISHING DATABASE CONNECTION

    Yeah, sounds like you need to move it back to how it was and go from there. Perhaps a restore from backup is best.

    how far is the restore
    I mean should i start with installing wordpress again
