A line height of “1” is normal. A line height below that number is smaller than normal, and a height above that number is larger than normal:

– 0.5 = 50% smaller than normal
– 1 = normal
– 1.5 = 50% larger than normal

I noticed that you were applying it to the <span> element? If you’re doing that, you need to display the element ‘block’.

Line-height doesn’t work on inline elements:

On non-replaced inline elements, line-height specifies the height that is used to calculate line box height
