Change login screen message

When a user isn’t loged in the login screen/form displays on the right side of the booking form. I have two problems, firstly users don’t realise that they MUST login if they already have an account (a lot fill out the booking form only to be told their email address is already on the system) and secondly many don’t know their wordpress generated usernames and they try to login with their email address.
I have installed a plug-in which enable users to login with their email address or their username. It works perfectly with EM, so I would like to change the text on the login form.
Can you tell me how I change the following:
“Log in if you already have an account with us” to…
“If you have previously booked for an event you MUST login here before making a new booking. You may login using your email address or the username supplied to you when you first booked.”and change
“Username” to….
“Email or Username”Thanks

PS I have tried changing the text in debem-en_GB.mo but that didn’t make any difference.
