So actually I need to make a small change in the code and test it myself.

Actually, you could try this:

Add this line in your theme functions.php
add_filter( 'hmn_cp_template_path', get_template_directory_uri() . '/my-template-dir' );

and copy this file into that folder in your theme:
https://github.com/humanmade/comment-popularity/blob/master/inc/templates/voting-system.html

Then you can change that file to suit your needs.
