Change of Permalinks

  • Hey guys, i want to change my link structure from this

    https://lookinforjonny.com/?p=6538

    to the exact names of the articles. I have already 300 articles online and I′m afraid of loosing all my links at other pages. If someone linked to an article of my blog and i change the permalink will it be still linked or will the link go nowhere after the change?

  • I just tested it on my wordpress, https://exemple.com/?page_id=16 got automatically redirected to https://exemple.com/article-name.
    In any case it’s easy to go back to your previous settings.

    edit: You’re talking of posts not page, there is no redirection for me, but it still works.

    Your links will still work if you are moving from the default permalink structure to a custom one but not the other way around.

    nope! just checked it out and destroyed many of my links. ?? it doesnt work and after changing back to the link with numbers i cant reach my articles anymore…HELP

    thats weird, i changed back and if you click the link it shows the titel although i double checked in my post itself…the titelname isnt anymore in as permalink structure?!?!

    This is probably due to the way how does the WordPress handle friendly URL’s.

    So, I guess the number there is to avoid possible conflicts. But that’s just a wild guess ??
